pop of color

my outfit choices are getting more limited now that the bump is getting bigger but I’ve never been one for ‘maternity wear’ so I’ve had to get a little more creative ;) The belly band I bought during my last pregnancy has helped and I’ve been using it for a few weeks now. It actually does double duty, holding up my pants and hiding my outie! I normally don’t have one but each pregnancy it’s gotten worse and worse and I couldn’t believe it this time when it popped out at like 13 weeks – not fair! I like the belly band but wearing it all day gets a little uncomfortable, no more uncomfortable that wearing maternity jeans I’m sure. I got these cords on clearance at gap and they make me happy – it’s really difficult for me to not wear just greys and blacks so having an item like this helps to get me out of my comfort zone…and they fit perfectly so I had no excuse not to buy them for $10!! If you want to keep track of my pregnancy style posts you can look in the menu under lifestyle – mama style.

I was digging through my giant shoebox in the bottom of my closet the other day and, as usual, finding only one of each pair that I needed and I realized that I have a whole bunch of heels that I never wear! It’s definitely one of those ‘mom’ things that I said I would never do, wearing only flats. It’s so much easier with the kiddos to just throw on a pair and head out the door (that’s my ‘mom’ excuse anyway!). So I made a little goal right there to wear more of my heels this year – I’ll let you know how it goes!

So I’ve been thinking about extensions, have any of you had experience with them? I’m totally hating my hair right now! I’ve been seriously considering it since I chopped my hair off a few months ago and am missing my longer locks. If I invest in some I’ll definitely be reviewing them on the blog for you all.

This week I have one of my favorite recipes coming up on the blog – and I also realized this week that I never shared my experience making baby food on the blog so I’ll be sharing my tips and recipes :)

homemade laundry soap

I posted this morning about my homemade laundry soap and since their were so many questions I thought I would take a little time to share my recipe – it is SO simple and money-saving!!

Basically it’s:
2 cups Arm and Hammer Laundry Soap
2 cups Borax
1 grated bar of soap (I like to use Whole Foods Organic Lavender Soap)
In the image above you’ll see my glass jar and it has a metal screw top, it’s from the Container Store

Use 2 Tbsp each load

And that’s it! Grating the soap is definitely my least favorite part, but it’s definitely worth all the money I save. In other recipes I’ve seen Ivory or Fels-Naptha used but I use the soap that I do so that it’s safe for cloth-diaper washing :)
