**This month we are going to be showcasing some of our favorite weddings from the past few years. I checked back in with these couples and had them answer some questions about their special day!**
//part 1//part 2//part 3//part 4//
One of my favorite things about shooting weddings is that every wedding is completely different and my favorite weddings are always the ones that completely reflect the happy couple. Dawson and Laurel had their hand in every element of their DIY wedding and were able to save a lot of money this way! They decided to make their wedding as personal as possible from the music all the way down to their receipt-paper backdrop and the little hearts stitched into their outfits. Lets see what they had to say about their special day…
What would you change about your wedding day, if anything?
If I could change anything I would have made a more detailed itinerary for friends and family involved in our wedding. While we got lucky and the day went by smoothly it would have helped everyone to know where to be and when without having to ask!
Was there anything unexpected that you loved?
During our first look Dawson played a song for me that he wrote. That song was such a special gift from him. It was such a special moment with just him.
What was your favorite moment of the day?
My husband sent me away during the morning to get ready while he took care of set up. When I arrived to the wedding property there were more friends and family volunteering their time to set up for our wedding than I could count. I felt the love from so many in that moment!
Is there anything you wish you had spent less time or money on?
I would have spent less time on so many details. I tend to be full of ideas, but have a difficult time narrowing them down. I could have spent less time on details and still had a wonderful day!
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them…
Our ceremony was held in a small ballet theater that had beautiful wood details and a large stage. Since the venue was naturally beautiful I wanted to keep decorations simple. We decided to have only an archway above us on the stage. We knew we wanted to make it ourselves and decided to use paper since it is lightweight and inexpensive. After some research we made a paper arch out of receipt paper with the help of many staples and a few friends.
Is there anything you wish you had spent more time or money on?
There are several things we decided to spend more of our budget on – my dress, photography, and live music for our reception. These three things made our wedding day feel extra special and were worth every penny!
What was your favorite image from your wedding?
Dawson and I shared a very special hug right after we were married before we shared our joy with friends and family. That first hug as husband and wife was captured mid-hug and takes me back to that moment every time I see it.
What did you like the most about working with englexas photography?
Our photos are amazing! Really amazing! My husband and I three years later still enjoy looking through our photos as much as we did the first time we saw them. This is what every bride hopes for when they look to hire a photographer. Englexas photography swept me off my feet on my wedding day by being an incredible emotional support that was completely unexpected. All day Debbie was right by my side helping me with lipstick, my veil, keeping me on schedule, and affirming that the day was going beautifully. So many of my favorite memories from my wedding day include having Debbie by my side.
What’s your number #1 tip for future engaged couples?
You can throw a beautiful wedding regardless of how big or small your budget is! You just need to decide what things are most important to you and spend more money on a few important things!
What was the best part of your wedding day?
Dawson and I rode away on a yellow bicycle built for two. The cans on the back of the bicycle fell off one by one on our ride to the bed and breakfast where we stayed. We have enjoyed many rides on the bicycle since, but that first ride was so special!
