project 52: week thirty eight - family is...doing what you love

**please forgive the funk…we’ve been sick all week**

I was once asked if really cook all the awesome food that I post on Instagram for my family and honestly, the answer is yes. I’m apprehensive to say that because I don’t want other moms to feel like they need to be cooking extravagant meals for their families all the time, or to think that I have it all together because I cook these awesome meals.

This has been on my mind so much recently. Who I am and who I want to be, I’ve talked before about moms feeling the pressure to be perfect. My resolution in all of this is that who I want to be is the best version of me that I can be. The truth is, cooking (and eating!!) is one of the things that I love to do and it’s a natural strength of mine, something I don’t have to force. Cleaning however? Well that’s a different story!

Some moms craft with their kids, some moms love to teach their kids, I love to cook for (and with) them. I think the reason that we feel under so much pressure as moms is because we feel like we have to do it all and do it all perfectly. So I’m spending time focusing on my strengths and doing the things that I love to do. I have weaknesses as a mom and for some of these things I need to lean on my husband, or even someone we hire (which we don’t yet, but I would never rule it out!). We are all much happier when we are spending time doing the things that we love!

One of my most frequently asked questions is how I save money. One of my biggest money saving ideas is consigning our clothes. Since moving to Little Rock and having young children I have discovered just how great consignment events are, and after much trial and error discovered my favorite event.

Every Spring and Fall I collect all of my kids clothes that they’ve grown out of, only keeping the items that I really love to pass down to the next child. I then spend the day sorting, tagging and entering the clothes online and then take them down to the event. There are so many reasons that I love Rhea Lana and recommend it to everyone I know!

The online tracking system is one of my favorites, each item is given a barcode and you can log into the website during the sale to see how much you have made so far – it’s actually kind of addicting! I usually use this tool to gauge how much I can spend and I’ve never spent more than I’ve made. You can get maternity clothes, toys, books, baby gear, movies, outdoor equipment (bikes, etc.) and all your clothing and shoe needs. All in one place!

You are in control of the price of each item, whether you want to sell some items for half price on the final sale days and you’re guaranteed the item won’t be lost, so if any items are lost you will still receive payment for it. You are also given the option to donate any items at the end of the sale, so you don’t even have to bring the items that you haven’t sold home! Being resourceful not only saves you money, but it’s better for the earth too ;)

Here are the upcoming Rhea Lana sale times:
Sunday, September 16th – 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Monday, September 17th – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Tuesday, September 18th – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Wednesday, September 19th – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Thursday, September 20th – 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

and my personal favorite, the HALF PRICE sale :)
Friday, September 21st – 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Saturday, September 22nd – 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
