darby lowe : 18 months old

Here is my update on our little girls development, as you can see she is running around and doesn’t really care to even look at my camera right now :)

One of my favorite things you’ve been doing this past month is answering questions, and what’s really great is that you aren’t saying no too much – only if you really mean it you will say “no way!”. But I love being able to say “Darby are you hungry?” or “are you ready for a nap” and the response be “yep!”

You love to “honk” peoples noses

You’re personality is really starting to show and we think you are gonna be shyer than your brother. At home you are a total ham but whenever we go to new places or you are meeting new people you get really quiet and look down. We were just in a crowded room last week of people you mostly know and you grabbed your snack and sat off to the side by yourself eating your snack. It really reminds me of myself and I love it because it makes me feel like you only ‘let in’ certain people and it’s an honor to be one of those people – I also hope that you keep this attitude in your teen years when it comes to boys!

You are getting much better at feeding yourself, using forks and spoons the proper way, it’s great because you only need a little bit of supervision.

You are learning all your body parts. You know your eyes, nose, ears, hair, mouth, teeth, tongue, chin, cheeks, belly, arms, fingers, legs, knees, feet, and toes.

You are still using sign language, although it seems to take a back seat since you’ve been talking so much. You sign and say all done, more, milk, juice, please, thank you, sorry and we’re working on the sign for help.

You still suck your index finger, and want your Aden & Anais blanket to sleep with.

We think your gonna be a little bit of a neat freak. After dinner you like to take a wet wipe and clean your high chair table and you have also mastered blowing your nose because you hate having a runny nose.

These last few days all of your “lateral incisors” are finally breaking in, they are the last teeth that we are waiting on.

It’s been such a joy to watch you grow and develop and we are so excited to see you become a big sister sometime in the next month or so!
